Erika is particularly interested in helping individuals who are:
Struggling with perimenopause
changes and challenges
Experiencing anxiety, depression or low self-worth
Wanting to manage stress more effectively
Seen or identify as “highly sensitive”
Hi, I’m Erika Ristok, a registered social worker who works with adults at MLC’s Burlington and Milton clinics and through virtual appointments.
I support people navigating perimenopause- and menopause-related changes, as well as anxiety, low mood, self-worth, stress, life transitions, and experiences often described as high sensitivity.
For people who prefer a focused, structured approach, I also provide MLC’s six-session Menopause Resilience Program, four- to five-session CBT-I program, and five- to six-session Assertiveness Training program.
My work can involve expanding practical skills while developing self-understanding, self-compassion, and connection to your values, strengths, and wisdom. If you would like to explore whether we may be a fit, you can request a free consultation call or request an appointment through MLC.
As a cis, white therapist of European ancestry, I stay actively engaged in learning and unlearning with respect to systemic biases and ways of doing better. Through this ongoing work, I strive to create a therapeutic space that is affirming, accessible, and grounded in social justice values.
In addition to my knowledge and experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), applied mindfulness strategies, including mindful self-compassion, and strengths-based practices including Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
I earned a Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology – Neuroscience and Behaviour at McMaster University. My professional experience includes clinical placements with Halton Healthcare’s Adult Outpatient Psychotherapy Service and the Halton Hills Family Health Team. I previously practised as a Naturopathic Doctor and served as a clinical supervisor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
